Submissions

Today at the start English 11 Honors class I sat down in my seat and noticed a seemingly ordinary (although I hesitate to use that word because paperclips--almost anything, for that matter--are scarcely ordinary) paperclip.  I picked it up and attached it to my pencil pouch so I wouldn't forget it. Moments later, my friend Sidney held up a paperclip she found and pointed my attention to it. I held up mine for her to see and then spent the rest of the class time listening to people's introductory speeches.
In my next class, AP US History, someone commented on my newly decorated STORYclip shoes (From Bless My Soles, in case you would also like an awesome pair of shoes by artist Megan Lengacher).  This must've sparked a memory in Hunter's mind because he said, "Oh!" and pulled out a paperclip for me.  Upon seeing him hand me the paperclip, Emily also gave me one that she found attached to her vocabulary papers in English the period before. 
Since neither Hunter or Emily provided me a story to go with these clips (which they can TOTALLY still do...in case either one of them is reading this now....I will tack on appendages to this post), I've decided to write one about them. Here goes:
An Ode to Hunter and Emily
Hunter and Emily are dynamics in a classroom.
They cause me to mirror their smiles and
without noticing it,
continually make my day.
A collage of visual and musical
emotions,
my friends have learned to succeed
at being the best of themselves.
