Teddy Roosevelt Island

Over the summer I went to Teddy Roosevelt Island.  In the middle of the island is a giant statue of Teddy.  We cross a bridge and see a map of the island.  We let my 11 year old cousin decide which way we wanted to go.  He thought he chose the short path but really he chose the path that took us around the entire Island!  We ended up discovering cool unmarked paths that took us to the Patomic River.  We found blackberries and cool rocks that we climbed on.  I felt like Simba on Pride Rock!  It was a long walk but we finally made it to the statue.  We ran and walked and ran some more until we found benches to rest.  It was a beautiful day to be with my family.  When we were done, my six year old cousin asked in a tired and whiny voice, "Do we have to go back the same way we came?"  It was so funny that we all began to laugh.  Then we told him yes we would!  It was funny to tease him but we all wanted to take the short way back so we did.  This was my epic adventure!
