Getting up and seeing myself in the mirror. There is a girl in my reflection. Big brown eyes, long brown hair. A scar on her right cheek and another one right underneath her chin. She gets made fun of for the gaps in her teeth. They don't know she went through pain getting 18 teeth pulled out because they wouldn't fall. She's witnessed her mother say that the bruises on her body were from falling down the stairs, when she was really getting beat by an abusive ex-husband. She has scars on her arms from a fight she had to battle for two years, when everyone thinks it was her cat. She doesn't own a cat. She's insecure. Isn't so sure what to do with herself. She used to walk around school with her head down. She was hanging out with girls that never understood her. Never even liked her. She hung out with them though. She wanted to know how it felt to be popular for once in her life. She grew up in a decent home. She had a loving family, but she was still unhappy. She never knew what it was like to feel loved. Something happened her freshman year. She joined the marching band, the colorguard to be exact. She met a bass drum player named ----- and somehow fell head over heels for him. It was his mother that kept them apart. She didn't like the age difference with him being 18 and her only 15. They ended the relationship in late November. The 23rd to be exact. She fell in love with music during that period. Finally understanding the meaning of it. Even though she had been in choir since her 8th grade year. Then came the faithful day of May 3rd, 2012. She had gone to a party with a fellow guard member. She thought it would be a regular night. Until she saw the band's quint player ----- there with the lead snare ----. ------- and ---- had been dating at the moment, so they went off to do their own thing. She had never really talked to -----, but she figured now would be a good time to start. They took a walk that night, talking for hours non-stop. ------- having to leave, she also had to. They said to each other their goodbyes. She had always liked -----, just never knew how to approach him because he had been dating a friend of hers, -------. Something clicked that night though. She wanted to continue to talk to -----. When she got home that night, she got on Facebook. Only to see that he had gotten online as well. Gaining up the courage to talk to him, she finally did it. They talked for three hours that night. They found out they had much in common. After exchanging numbers, they talked the next morning. He invited her over for that Friday. Once Friday came around they had gone on a walk, gotten ice cream, and ended the night watching Drumline. He then took her home and may have stolen a kiss on the cheek. They started dating that day. That same summer, she had gone to an event at a lake house. ----- wasn't able to go because of his parents. Something happened that night, but she swore never to talk about it again. Her and ----- broke up for two weeks after that. She was basically in a state of depression after that. They had gotten back together on July 5th. From then up until November they were fine. One November day after school, ----- stayed after to talk to ---------. He texted his girlfriend that night when he got home. Only did she know that, the text would change them for good. He wanted to end the relationship. Saying that he didn't want to play her anymore. She knew the real reason was because he still had feelings for his ex-girlfriend. Anyway, she went over that night to try and fix things. You could say that the wound was covered, but not completely healed. For that past week, she never knew what to believe anymore. Being told one thing, then finding out another. She found out that week, he had still been texting his ex-girlfriend. She may have found out by looking through his phone, which was her first mistake. He apologized and said he was done with his ex. She hadn't found out anything for a couple of months after that. About three weeks ago, his girlfriend was over at his house, when he received a text message from his ex saying, "That's a cute one." He tried to lie, covering it up saying that she had called his girlfriend a "hairy-mexican peasant." She knew he was lying. She demanded he tell her the truth. He said that she had texted him the night before saying he looked good at prom. He apparently replied with a "tough -----." That's supposedly where the "That's a cute one," message came from. The relationship seems like it's going fairly well now. The girl in this story, yes it's me. I'm the colorguard member who fell in love, yes I said fell in love and is still in love with the quint player. We've been dating for over a year now and things are better. Yet, I always feel like something isn't right. Is my insecurity getting the best of me?
